DesertStorm Medical Supplies Guide — Heals, Bleeds & Rig Layout
DesertStorm [EXTRACTION] medical guide: quick heals, bleed stoppers, surgical kits, stims, rig placement, and healing under fire without dying in the inventory menu.
Medical supplies decide whether you extract with loot or donate your kit to the first player who catches you at half health. DesertStorm [EXTRACTION] punishes players who treat meds as optional — one untreated bleed or a slow heal during a push ends raids that were otherwise won. This guide covers quick heals, bleed stoppers, surgical kits, stims, rig placement, and healing under fire so your loadout saves you when bullets start flying.
Pair this page with inventory management for grid layout and PvP survival for when to fight versus heal.
Why meds beat armor early
Heavy armor slows you down and costs rubles. Meds are cheap, stack in rig slots, and recover from mistakes. A budget player with two heal cycles and a bleed stop often outlasts a geared opponent who opened inventory in the open.
Match med depth to your build goal — loot runs need fewer heals; contested extract routes need more. Check items overview for vendor prices before every wipe.
Quick heals
Quick heals restore health over a short channel. They are your default answer after taking chip damage or winning a small skirmish.
Rules for quick heals:
- Bring at least two on standard raids — one mid-fight, one before extract
- Bind to number keys 1–4 via rig cells; confirm bindings in controls
- Use between fights, not during active trades unless you have hard cover
- Partial heal when above seventy percent only if you expect immediate contact
Quick heals do not stop bleeds. Using one on a bleeding limb wastes time and leaves the debuff active.
Bleed stoppers
Bleed stoppers halt light and heavy bleed debuffs. Without one, health drains during sprint and aim, and extract channels become death sentences.
Minimum carry:
- One bleed stop for short routes
- Two bleed stops for PvP-heavy paths or squad raids
Apply bleed stoppers before quick heals when the bleed icon is active. Order matters — heal first on a bleeding body and you lose health faster than you recover.
If you hear the bleed sound effect after a firefight, stop moving, find cover, and fix it before looting bodies.
Surgical kits
Surgical kits repair destroyed limbs — blacked arms and legs that block use, slow movement, or prevent aiming. They take longer to apply than quick heals and should not be used under direct fire.
When to carry surgical kits:
- Mid-tier and PvP builds where limb damage is common
- Long routes far from extract
- Skip on pure budget loot runs if you plan to disengage early
Use surgical kits only in locked rooms, behind hard cover, or at extract before starting the channel. Blacked legs near extract without a kit mean crawling to death.
Stims and painkillers
Stims and painkillers reduce pain debuffs, restore stamina, or boost short-term performance depending on item tier. They are optional on budget runs but valuable for:
- Sprinting to backup extract under weight
- Holding an angle during extract channel
- Recovering after a long fight before the next contact
Do not spam stims every raid — they cost rubles and teach bad habits. One stim in a rig cell beats three in a backpack you never reach.
Rig placement for meds
Your rig top row is med row. Never bury heals under loot. Standard layout:
| Rig row | Items | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Top | Quick heals, bleed stop | Fast access under fire |
| Middle | Primary ammo mags | Reload without opening backpack |
| Bottom | Stim, surgical kit (optional) | Used between fights, not mid-trade |
Details live in inventory management — this guide focuses on what to bring; that guide covers where each item sits in the grid.
Pre-sort at headquarters before queue. Mid-raid repack only in cover between fights.
Healing under fire
Healing during combat is possible but dangerous. Follow this sequence:
- Break line of sight — corner, smoke, vertical drop
- Stop shooting — audio gives away your position
- Apply bleed stop first if bleeding
- Quick heal only when you have two to three seconds of safety
- Reload before re-peeking
Never open full Tab/Caps Lock inventory during a gunfight. If your heal is not on a hotkey, you packed wrong — fix layout at stash, not in the open.
After winning a fight, heal and reload before looting. Third parties hunt wounded players sorting bodies. Read PvP survival for disengagement when low on meds.
Pre-raid med checklist
Before every deploy:
- Two quick heals minimum in rig top row
- One bleed stop reachable on hotkey
- Surgical kit if running mid-tier or PvP kit
- Optional stim for long extract walks
- Confirm keys 1–4 in controls match rig layout
Cross-check against your chosen build template. Over-stacking meds wastes rubles; under-stacking wastes the raid.

Common med mistakes
- Zero bleed stops — one untreated bleed ends the run
- Heals in backpack bottom — cannot access under pressure
- Healing in the open — free kill for third parties
- Surgical kit mid-fight — channel too long without cover
- Skipping meds for more armor — mobility without heals loses extract races

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How many quick heals should I bring per raid?
At least two on standard routes — one for mid-raid damage and one before extract. PvP-heavy paths need three or more in rig top row.
Do I need a bleed stop if I already have heals?
Yes. Quick heals do not stop bleeds. Apply a bleed stop first when the bleed debuff is active, then heal.
When should I use a surgical kit?
Only in cover between fights or at extract before channeling. Never apply one under direct fire — the channel is too long.
Where should meds go in my rig?
Top row of your rig, mapped to number keys 1–4. See [inventory management](/guides/inventory-management/) for full grid layout.
Can I heal during a gunfight?
Only with hard cover and a hotkey-bound quick heal. Break line of sight first, stop bleed if active, then heal before re-peeking.
